Policies & Procedures For The Media Center

  • Destiny (Online Catalog)

Destiny, our online catalog, can be accessed from any computer with Internet access. Students must follow the Acceptable Use Policy when utilizing school technology and the Internet. Kindergarten through 6th grade classes come to the Media Center at a regularly scheduled time one period per week. During this 40 minutes period the students check books in and out and have instructional time. Many of the lessons are interdisciplinary in content.

  • Book Check Out

Kindergarten students may check out 1 book per week and students in grades 1-6 may check out 2 books/magazines per week. Special consideration and adjustments may be made when students are working on a particular project. Books are typically due back in 1 week, however, they can be renewed. Although there are classes scheduled throughout the day, students may drop in (with their classroom teachers' permission) to return or renew books provided a Media Center staff person is available. Students may place a particular book on hold and they will be notified when the book has been returned. There are no fines for overdue materials. Students who lose or damage books will be asked to reimburse the school for the cost of replacing or repairing the book.
